Esports World Cup 2026: AG.AL Win the Club Championship in Paris
China-based AG.AL have been crowned Esports World Cup 2026 Club Champions, taking the $7 million top prize on the final weekend of a seven-week event in Paris. The result, confirmed by the Esports Foundation's official press release, ends Team Falcons' two-year hold on the title.
A title decided in the last tournament
The Club Championship rewards consistency across every game on the EWC programme, and this year it went to the wire. According to the Esports Foundation, Team Falcons led the overall standings going into the Trackmania playoffs, but Carl-Antoni "Carl Jr." Cloutier went out in the quarter-finals. That left the door open for AG.AL's Gwendal "Gwen" Duparc, who needed to finish third or better.
He did more than that. Gwen won the EWC's first-ever Trackmania tournament, collecting the $130,000 event prize and the full points haul that put AG.AL out of reach. Dot Esports reported that Falcons had entered the final day 300 points clear, and that AG.AL needed at least 400 points from Trackmania to overtake them.
AG.AL finished on 5,300 points. Their campaign also included a win in TEKKEN 8, second places in Chess, Free Fire and the Honor of Kings World Cup, and third in Teamfight Tactics.

The first EWC outside Riyadh
The 2026 edition was the first Esports World Cup held outside Saudi Arabia. Euronews described the move to Paris as a short-notice relocation, and reported that French President Emmanuel Macron presented the trophy at the closing ceremony, attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Esports Foundation says more than 2,000 players from 200 clubs and over 100 countries competed across 25 tournaments in 24 games, for a total prize pool of $75 million, which it describes as a record.
Ralf Reichert, Chief Executive Officer of the Esports Foundation, said: "Paris embraced the Esports World Cup and made it its own. The city showed that competitive gaming belongs on the world's biggest stages while staying true to what makes esports special."
European Gaming reports that the Esports World Cup returns to Riyadh in 2027.
What it means for the clubs
For Falcons, second place still brought $5 million, and the club had already had a strong summer in Counter-Strike after winning the IEM Cologne Major in June (see our ESL Pro Tour 2026 schedule and results). For Team Liquid, fifth place meant a $2 million payout, and the organisation's finances have since been in the headlines for other reasons — see our report on esports jobs and the latest layoffs.
The EWC model, where clubs earn points across many games, rewards organisations that run large multi-title rosters. That takes staff as well as players: coaches, analysts, team managers, content teams and partnerships staff.
